Star Jasmine

It's the time of year when star jasmine is full of flowers and perfumes our back door. Its white pinwheel shape flower is so delicate. It is actually NOT a true jasmine, it's trachelospermum jasminoides. The fragrance reminisces jasmine, thus the name. It is also known as Confederate Jasmine because of its popularity in the South (southern states of USA). Its origin is from China.

Interesting fact:
The leaves are used to brew tonic teas & herbal remedies in China, believed to be useful for problems of old age such as arthritis & heart disease. Research done in Australia [Li, et al, 2003] indicate that this plant really does contain chemical enzymes that function as anti-inflammatories.
