Purple Angel's Trumpet or Brugmansia's undulated seed pod in the early stage.
As the seed pod gets fatter, the purple color dissipates and its surface becomes smooth.
And then it starts to crack open.
Open wider and wider and the seeds fall into the ground and become new plants in spring.

Gen 1:12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
That is a Datura not a Brugmansia. Very different plants.
Definitely not, the fruit of Datura has spines!
