First Oriental Lily Blooms

This the first oriental lily blooms this year. It's their second year.
Purchased the bulb online from Breck's.

Sword Lily

Sword lilies, or commonly known as gladiolus, are getting ready to bloom. These are some of the first flower buds and blooms in various stages that were noted today. So excited to see different color combinations in each plant. We bought the corms last year from Brecks and planted them around the vegetable garden, house, and by the creek. This year all gladiolus plants that come back or, I should say, survive from yard clearing, gopher and mole tunnel, gate and fence installation, etc. look bigger and sturdier than last year's growth. Hope the flower will too.

Dahlia Sprouting

May 3rd, 2009.
Five out of 10 dahlia tubers that we planted last month have sprouted. Here's one them, about 3 inches / 8 cm tall.

Dinner Plate Dahlia

Five varieties of dinner plate dahlia (2 tuber clumps each variety) planted in full sun area (at the back of vegetable garden). They are:

• Thomas Edison Dahlia - Radiant purple with a touch of beetroot purple.
  
• Kevin Floodlight Dahlia- Huge golden yellow blossoms.
  
• Mrs. Eileen Dahlia - The first orange dahlia that is truly dinner plate size.
  
• Garden Wonder Dahlia - Big, bold, bright scarlet blooms.
  
• Fleurel Dahlia - Big dinner plate-size white blossoms.

Giant Crocuses

First year's crocus blooms. The bulbs were delivered in fall, planted early winter, bloom in spring. Purchased from Brecks.com (Giant crocuses for naturalizing).
